Chang Liu (刘畅) is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on the questions at the intersection between Philosophy of Language and Political Philosophy:
- Theories of Slurs: Why are racial slurs derogatory and offensive?
- Ethics of interpretation: What are the fair interpretations of what someone says?
- Moral Psychology of Offense: Under what conditions is it appropriate to feel offended?
Chang Liu completed his PhD in Philosophy (2019) at the University of Western Ontario under the supervision of Robert Stainton. Prior to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he worked as a Boya Postdoctoral Fellow at Peking University.
